In Memory of Jean MacLennan

Jean MacLennan and his wife of 58 years, Sue, moved into Landmark in 1970. Sue remarks that they would watch the other phases being built from their second story unit and they "loved the view." Jean was still working for IBM when they moved into Landmark 53 years ago and retired after 23 years with IBM. Once retired, Jean loved working in the woodshop and not only spent much of his free time there but was also instrumental in adding most of the equipment the woodshop currently uses. Jean's woodworking in the Landmark woodshop was nothing less than prolific over the years! He designed and made virtually all of the signs, unit numbers and furnishings that we see everyday here. His legacy will always be a part of the Huntington Beach Landmark community! While not working for the Landmark community or serving on the Board of Directors several times, Jean made toys for underprivileged kids around the world. Jean designed and made jigs for the Toymakers to create toys. Over the years he was instrumental in making over 60,000 toys for children. The woodshop in Landmark will now and forever more be known as the "Jean MacLennan Woodshop."

Jean passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning of Thanksgiving Day, 2023.
